Hi all,

No doubt my 2360WAC probably handles different than the CC models and here in B.C. our fishing consists of drifting (jigging) and 2kt trolling. That said, you are either dead slow or WOT to get to the fishing or to get home, so WOT is very important to me.My SF hasn't experianced the ventilation issues I have read about, however what still confuses me is running my 2x150s with 13 3/4x19 Reliance s/s props to get to WOT you have to trim the motors to the extreme which causes the boat to porpoise and to stop that, you have to use trim tabs, which causes loss in performance.

The cavitation plates are running below the surface and inch or so and alot of spray between the motors, which tells me they need to be moved up to #3 from #2 where they are now and get the plates on the surface and slightly above the strakes. Her performance is awfully good as in ideal conditions I can almost squeeze 51mph from her.

The motors are 0 toe in/out, so I know that needs to be played with this spring.

Questions;

Will raising the motors help negate the excess trim to get WOT?

Would wedges help this?

There is a great article on mounting found here:

Thanks everybody in advance!

You're right Brian. That's a great article.

Of particular interest is this: Engine alignment will effect how far behind the boat the wakes of the twin engines will converge. In some instances there may be objectionable effects if the wakes converge too close to the boat. Such a convergence can produce loud exhaust sounds, and it may also lead to problems with propeller ventilation. For these reasons, the propeller shaft angles are often set with some toe-in, which tends to keep the wakes from converging until farther behind the boat.

Brian

It sounds like you have the motors mounted to deep, but raising them one bolt hole might start a ventilation issue.  I am trying a custom jack plate that I hope will fix my ventilation issue without setting the motor so deep that it causes performance issues.  I have not heard from any sailfish owners that have installed jack plates but Im sure they are out there!!!

I agree with checking your toe-in, but I would also look into a jack plate.  Good luck!!!
