Member Posts: 12 | Good evening! Can anyone please help me with this debate. I was hoping current owners of both setups can let me know how they feel about there respective engines. Specifically, I have heard the twin 115 setup could be underpowered for a 236 size boat. However, these opinions come from non-sailfish boat owners, and I would really like to go to the source to find out what you guys think. Im currently in the market for a 236 and cant decide which engine combo I should go with. I really appreciate your time and look forward to your replies. Have a goodnight, Matt

![]() Posts: 971 ![]() Location: New Haven, Ct. | I think the 150's would be a better choice. Much more power, bullet proof motor better fuel burn. Check out Yamahas production reports on both. I think they recomend cruise speed for the 115's @ 5000 rpm's to high for me they have got to take a beating. I could be on plane @ 3000 rpm's doing about 23 mph burning 8 gph. My best cruise speed is about 3800 rpm's about 34 mph burning about 13 gph. -------------------------2360 CC F 150's ----------------------------------------------

Regular Posts: 54 ![]() Location: Azle, Texas | I not totally dissatisfied about the 115s but if i had the option of 115s or 150s I would go with the 150s like Finatc states more power which results in a better fuel burn. I know with my boat fuel of fuel, 450 lbs of ice, 4 passengers which average 225 lbs each and thats beinng nice to some of us!! and all my tackle about the best fuel burn in get is 1.9 MPG to maybe 2.3 at or between 24 mph and 29 mph I maybe be off a little in my numbers. But like I said before if I ever trade up I will some day re-power with 150s Edited by GulfDawg 2010-02-07 8:24 AM

Member Posts: 35 ![]() | I am considering purchasing a 2360 with T115's. Should I be concerned with the power or is it fine, and would obviously just be better with t150's?

![]() ![]() Location: Ocean City, NJ / Siesta Key, FL | i am happy with the 115's. if i had bought the boat new i would have gotten the 150's but it was a good deal on a very low hour boat.

Member Posts: 25 ![]() Location: Lower Keys, Florida | I've got the 115's on mine and i like them. If I did repower, def. with the 150's. Cruising speed is about 30-32 at 5000 rpm. I can't really go much faster then that but the 115's will get the boat going quick. I've found that its got alot on the bottom just not the top end speed wise.

I cruise at 26 MPH at 4700RPM's ..If I could only turn 5000 at 33MPH i would check my props... I would Max out the HP for the 2360 sailfish which I think has been upgraded to 400HP. What ever the max is would seems to me to give you better MPG at lower cruise speed. Whatever your pick you will enjoy the ride and ease of operation and maintance of your SAILFISH

![]() Posts: 159 ![]() | I have a 2006 2360 w 115's. Happy with it & it handles sea's great. Engines run great & I've never felt the need for 150's BUT,.. check the post in owners of forum relating to "4 strokes making oil" The guy that started the post has 150's... I never thought I had a problem till i looked further into this,.. Now i'm in the process of checking my rpm's when loaded to deturmine if it is propped right is all. If I was to buy 1 now, I'd check with owners as you are & Yamaha before i decided is all.

![]() ![]() Location: Boynton Beach, Florida | I have a 2360 with 150s and been on both as well as a 236. I would take a 236 with a 300 V6 over a 2360 any day. The 236 hull is a little different. I haven't seen a 236 with twins yet. I can tell you that the 115s propped property ran great compared to my 150s with my M20s. If you are going with twins, make sure the boat is propped right or include that cost in your negotiations.

![]() Posts: 632 ![]() Location: Palm Beach Gardens | Just ran my F115's with new Power Tech 4 blades and I fell in love all over again with my 2360. Still would have gone F150's but dam these new props make the boat run near perfect. Like jr said...make sure you get the props you want not what the dealer is willing to give.

Member Posts: 35 ![]() | THX Cracker, it would be interesting to see the dif between the 17's on LS's vessel versus yours. I have the 3 blade 16 PT's and my numbers are close to yours. Now of course this all depends on sea conditions, wind, weight, etc. etc. I used to run the 3 blade 18's but they were sloooooow
